English and me

English Learning has been a very difficult process for me because I don't have habilities to learn/speak foreign languages.   As a result, I don't like the English classes and usually feel nervous or ashamed in front of my classmates when we must speak for practicing or during the exams.
About the use of blogs, I think it's a very funny and innovative technique that allows us to speak about some matters that sometimes we can't pay attention to.
I know I need to be able of speaking in English. For me it is easier to understand the ideas or questions than elaborate my own sentences in English.  This is, I can quite understand what I'm reading or listening but it's a hard task to express my own feelings or give replies in English.

I have thought that I should continue in an English Intensive Course after finishing my studies at the University.

The most important is that I really would like to learn this language.  Although I don't like it, I know it is necesary to learn English for developing more teaching habilities with my pupils.

I barely use the English language. The only or more frequent circumstance where I use it, as listening, is while I'm watching movies on TV.

My 2014

I am glad to say that this has been a year plenty of joy, although harder than expected. It's the last year for finishing my studies of Teaching and that makes me too much happy but also too much nervous.

On other aspects, some simple events have become really important for me, for instance, I'm living with my child, a beautiful boy who is growing very happily and healthy.  We both moved to a pretty and confortable apartment in the downtown, which makes me easier to get the places where I must go for my studies or job.

Besides, I could go back to my group of dancing in meetings every Saturday morning. Dancing has been really meaningful for me since I was a child because I feel a powerful connection with myself and the culture of my ancestors.

Unfortunately, some things did not go so well. My grandfather, a 102 years old man, is seriously ill and I am taking care of him.  This is an extremmely important responsibility in my daily routine, and it's also brings many new expenses.   Although it have taken many of my time  and some problems with some relatives have come up, I am absolutely proud and happy to be with him.  Sometimes he seems younger than me, because of his love for living.

About the things I haven't done yet, I have planned a travel with my son to Bolivia and I hope to make it true before the end of the year.

Whatever happens, I have to say that I always enjoy every moment of my life and being happy is the best challenge I have everyday.

Bye

POST 8: WHAT IS MY FAVORITE MUSIC OR BOOR OR SPORT?

In this time, I’m going to tell you about an old sport that was practiced by almost all the men in my family. I’m going to tell you a little about Boxing.

I remember watching my grandfather, when I was little, that, very often, I saw him jumping a rope. He was very fast, really fast, you couldn’t almost see the rope, and his feet were just a little separated from the floor. We thought it was easy, me and my brother, so we tried to do it and we couldn’t jump even the half of the fast that granpa was. I remember that time, because the week next to that my brother started to training box in our nearest old gym. I liked a lot that he was training, because he started to teaching to me at home. English Boxing (the classic box) is a professionalization of a street fight, it involves two people fighting to each other, and only using their hands. It was very helpful for me that my brother could teach me a lot, train me has he was training, because that made my body much more physically prepared, and made me feel a lot safer in the streets.  Also, has my brother has been teaching me some punches and defenses, I’ve been sharing those lessons with a lot of my friends, so we all could care for each other of us. More than one of them was deeply interested and started practicing in the gym.

Well, I think that’s all for now. We have to go to see a fight!

Bye!
POST 7 HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

People don’t learn environmentally friendly practices without difficulty. At least, not the people I know, including myself. I think that that is a consequence of the places we live in. We live downtown, or in the suburbs, and these are classical non-healthy places. One could say that, but I also think that it’s up to each one of us to learn by ourselves, selfeducation and all that kind of things that people do when they are really interested in learning and do something. Not wait that ideal resources are availables. And that’s why I think that I haven’t made a real compromise, because little things, like recycle, are very difficult for me to start to do. Not because I can’t, its only that I just don’t do it, and I would really love to start doing it.

I’ve always used a lot my legs and my bicycle to move myself around the city. My first reason wasn’t ecological, although, it was economic. Traveling in the public service has become very expensive. But, I have to recognize that now I’ve became more conscious about the necessity of stop using so much cars and buses, because all the smog they produce.

I think that we need, with urgency, it’s a better environmental education, at all levels in our society, because that’s an issue that involves all the aspects of our lives, and of the others.

Although I’m studying Education, I’ve always been a very critic person about the role that schools, in general, have in our society. I think that, in a lot of ways, they are a very authoritarian institution. So, I would really like to work in a communitarian school. A communitarian school is a school that has been built by and for the people of a specific community or village. I imagine that it should have different ways of relations between the students and teachers. Like the Caracoles Zapatistas, for example. The Caracoles are educational institutions from the Zapatistas that are like our schools, but that have been made up in a totally different basis.

So I don’t imagine I could work indoor or in an office, but I really like the idea that I could travel a lot. For example, to Chiapas, in Mexico. It could be an interesting experience, for me as a teacher, to learn about the Caracoles, their organization, programs, and people. So, I don’t know if I could do that in  reality, but it’s a really good idea for me.

Actually, I’m not taking any major, and I don’t know very much of any of them, because I’m focusing in finishing this year. But, in a future, I would love to take a major about alternative pedagogies, which is a major that I know that can be done in this university.

POST 4 CULTURAL SHOCK

In our career, we don’t have a particular definition of Cultural Shock, but I could tell for sure that that’s a thing that we all know about, or that we should know about.

I think we all should know about, because, has educators, we should know that immigration is a reality in our country, and that it is very possible for us to find a kid from a totally different culture, who is just arriving in to our country and our classroom. So we should know how to deal with the cultural shock that he/she is probably going to experience. Imagine going to a class were you don’t even understand what’s saying the teacher, it could be very stressful.

Fortunately, I can’t think in a situation where a have feel in that way, cause my travels has always been very near (and not for so much long time) so I’ve always feel very comfortable, with my friends and family, and in countries with nice people. Also, I enjoy a lot meeting new cultures, so I always look around and study a little before going to someplace, so I have never feel in shock when I meet a new place, new people or new culture.
Good night my friends! See you later.
Post 2. My Career

I remember when I was still in school, that I looked at my good teachers and I knew how important was the work they were doing with me, because they cared a lot in making a good class and in being nice to us. I decided to study Education, when I realized that our pass through school was a crucial time for everyone, and that I thought that I could do a very good job.
Besides talking to my teachers, almost all the things that I knew about the career came from living with my mom, because she is a teacher. We could talk a lot and she answered all my doubts. I knew, for example, that my career will required a lot of my time in the preparation of my classes with the kids, so they could have a good time with me. In one of those conversations, she told me that the Universidad the Chile was the best university to go to, because they had the best department of Education and an historical compromise with public education.
And that’s why I decided to study Education.

My experience in the field

My experience in the education field has been a beautiful challenge. There are a lot of factors involved in the development of the tasks and it’s required to be willing to solve any problem and improve any disadvantaged situation. As requisite of my studies at the university, I had to fulfill with 10 practices in schools, in different levels and social realities. I used to work with children aged 2-4 years, which means to develop many strategies to promote enthusiasm and creativity.

Currently I’m working in a kindergarten in Ñuñoa, Santiago. The group is composed of 8 children, all of them kindly, lovely and enthusiastic which makes my work absolutely motivating and interesting.
About problems, I can tell that my work in the institution was very complicated, because working with kids always brings problems related with the planning and the implementation. For example, the kids got late to classes because they lived so far from the school.
Many things I’ve liked, some of them is that I’ve been lucky to have the cooperation of 2 assistants- Raquel and Ely- during my current work. These persons are always taking care of children and offering advice and help in any task.  Also, the kindergarten is a very nice and friendly place.  The importance of the environment is always a topic in the classes. The children are usually invited to enjoy the nature and talk about it. I feel totally happy in this place.
As a result, the children are more sensitive and feel like participate in the activities planned.
The kindergarten have artistic projects and they are really interested in the comprehensive development of every child.
What could be some disappointed, is that sometimes the resources are not available to perform all the projects designed for the different levels.  It is frustrating to stop the advances because of the lack of economic resources.

The country I would like to visit the most would be New Zealand. For many reasons, the number one is that it looks like an absolutely gorgeous country, especially after watching the movie Lord of the Rings, which is one of my favorites, there you can see the beautiful landscapes that the country has. Another reason is that I've never been at the other side of the equator line. I've never been in a diffrent culture, diffrent place where another lenguage is spokenand I'd really like to see if the water flushes in reverse. But the main reason I would like to visit New Zeland is because I've met a lot of nice people from there, and they say it's a very large and amazing country. Even when I'm not sure if I can get there soon, I hope I can do it some time. To make it possible, I know I will have to work very hard to save the money I'll need.
